Funkdamentalz - Tour across the GTA

Jaime Wilson and Miranda Abbott founded the Funkdamental Dance Co. in 2002. This female duo is nothing new, Jaime and Miranda have been dancing together since 1998, what started out as a couple routines soon turned into shows, music videos and special opening acts to some of the most legendary hip hop artists.

Miranda and Jamie, also known in the industry as Tangerine and Jiven, were formally members of Fem Nomena, an all female dance group that originated in Toronto. Using the experience of their first crew, that performed regularly at clubs like the Government Night Club, and appeared on Much Music’s the Vibe, decided it was time for something new and fresh and perhaps even a little more fun. The Funkdamentalz were created.

Jamie Wilson, as a member of Fem Nomena was also the groups manager, who created everything the crew needed for promotional material. She managed the group’s financial agreements and even created shows, weekly events and special appearances for Fem Nomena. Jamie aspires to bring the Funkdamentalz to even higher heights.

Miranda Abbott, also brings her own flare to the Funkdamentalz, performing on stage since she was three years old, Miranda has been a student in professional training programs like the National Ballet School of Canada. She was also a member of The Canadian Children’s dance Theatre, and has currently finished her studies at the School of Toronto Dance Theatre. Miranda brings a unique knowledge of the stage and Choreography to the group.

The Funkdamentalz, go on tour around the GTA, is a show that creates a fun and entertaining atmosphere for many clubs, concerts and events.  However more importantly, they want to bring positive hip-hop into different communities. Teaching children is a passion they both share, and hope that their efforts to continue performing these dynamic shows will fuel future projects that will take them through many different avenues of education and entertainment.
